A Shine Of Rainbows (Ireland/Canada, 2009; 101 min.)
Director: Vic Sarin

A sweeping tale as beautiful as the Irish Coastline where the film is set, The Shine of Rainbows tells the story of Maire O’Donnell (Connie Nielson, Gladiator) who adopts  young orphan Tomas, taking him into a magical world of Irish folklore on the remote Corrie Island.

Marie teaches Tomas about the secret of seals and one of life’s important lessons, everything you need is inside of you, if you really look.  Two important lessons which serve Thomas well as he timidly attempts to win over Maire’s stern husband Alex (Aidan Quinn, Legends of the Fall) and descends into a bat cave in an attempt to rescue a baby seal.

As tragedy presents itself in Tomas life, he faces his greatest challenge yet- everything wonderful in his life risks being lost.   Tomas accepts a dangerous journey where he will need the ability to see joy and color in the darkest of places in order to return home safely.

A Shine Of Rainbows is about the transformational power of love, about finding acceptance, discovering ourselves, and realizing that rainbows are all around us- and within us too.
